Please avoid using your browser's back, forward or refresh buttons.
Use the "Refresh Map" button on the bottom left of the application.
The application works with most recent browsers (including Safari on MacOSX).
If some problems occur use the following URLs to reload the application:
To make a layer visible check the box "Visible" in the layer list (right frame). More than once layer may be visible at once.

The application allows 3 different projections( bottom right frame). On the fly projection for some layer (e.g. with polygons) may slow the rendering.
Image quality is low to allow access for low bandwitdh Internet connections.

Some tools can only be applied to an "Active" layer. In such case make sure to have the appropriate radio button checked in the right frame.
Layer/Legend: This tool toggles the table of contents frame between a legend image and the list of layers.
Overview map: Display an overview map
Zoom In: Click or drag a rectangle on the map to zoom in.
Zoom Out: Click or drag a rectangle on the map to zoom out. (The smaller the rectangle, the more the zoom out.)
Initial Extent: Click this button to return to the initial map extent.
Zoom to Active Theme: Click this button to change the map extent to that of the current active theme.
Last Extent: Click this button to return to the previous map extent.
Pan: Use this tool to drag or center the map extent while maintaining the same scale.
Hyperlink: Use this tool to open the "Data Centres Gateway" for a specific float. This tool works only with the layer "floats" set to active.
Identify: Use this tool to display attributes on features of the active theme that you click on.(for the "floats" layer, the WMO Id is a link to the "Data Centres Gateway")
Query: Click the button to open the query builder dialog. Click on the "Rec" field in the results list to center the map on the selected object. (for the "floats" layer, the WMO Id is a link to the "Data Centres Gateway")
Find: Use this tool to find the map feature(s) based on a text string the user types. Click on the "Rec" field in the results list to center the map on the selected object. (for the "floats" layer, the WMO Id is a link to the "Data Centres Gateway")
Buffer: Inserts a buffer zone around a selected feature.
Select by Rectangle: Click or drag a rectangle on the map to spatial select features of the active theme.
Select by Line/Polygon: Click on the map (WAIT FOR A NEW PAGE AFTER EACH CLICK) to create a geometric shape that is used to select features of the active theme.
Clear Selection: Click this button to clear the current selection on the active theme.
Print: Click this button to open the print dialog in which you can create a printable map.
